1921  An interesting addition to the H.B.C. fleet of northern river transport vessels is the new "tunnel" boat, launched at Vancouver, March 26th.
1942  On the Dease River, gasoline propelled "tunnel" boats (that is, boats fitted with a propeller that is retractable into a tunnel) replaced the scows. . . .
1958  On stern-wheel river steamboat, three shallow-draft power boats (Called 'tunnel-boats'), and twelve barges, were built.
